Is your study on the NIHR Portfolio?
Yes, the IBD BioResource is on the portfolio, the study number is 20664.

Can GP practices participate in the study?
No, we are only recruiting patients through hospital clinics.

My hospital is outside of the United Kingdom, can we participate?
At the moment we are only running the study from hospitals in United Kingdom.

Is there any funding for hospitals that participate?
No, there is not funding available. However, we do provide all the consumables and postage necessary for patient recruitment and return of blood samples to the laboratory.

Does the site PI need to be a doctor?
No, the PI does not need to be a doctor. However, some of the patient data that we will ask you to collect for the study will require the input of a doctor with experience of IBD. Please note the IBD BioResource is also registered to the NIHR Associate PI Scheme

How many patients would you expect us to recruit?
This depends on the number of patients with IBD that you see in your clinics, as well as the number of staff that are available to work on the study.

**IBD BioResource goal is to enrol 50,000 patients with Crohn’s or colitis from all over the UK, including 1,000 newly diagnosed. To help us reach that target, participating hospitals should aim to recruit 10 patients per month, including 2 newly diagnosed within past 12 months**

Do you link to the IBD Registry?
We are working closely with the IBD Registry to ensure that both studies are successful, and support clinicians and patients in the best way possible.
